It's the fifth edition of the European Triennial of Contemporary Jewellery, and this time the WCC-BF invited artists from Italy and Finland to make their works dialogue with those of the Belgian makers. As parallel events the European Triennial of Contemporary Jewellery presents the seminar "Jewellery object: For your eyes only?" and a workshop about jewellery making by Claire Lavendhomme.
An exhibition and a prize
More than an ornament, the contemporary jewellery is the result of a conceptual research of the artists. Under the spectator’s eye, the artwork provoke a feeling, generates meaning. The makers’ sensitivity and his imagination are stimulated by the materials, the dimensions, shapes, colors... of the jewels and the place at which they are encountered.

The prize of the Federation Wallonia Brussels
The Artist works mainly with traditional materials and tools, she realises contemporary art works which give the viewer a natural feeling of poetry, like an evidence. This work looks simple but is at the same time rich, inviting the viewers to their own dreams, in an open space.
These are the arguments give by the jury when choosing the winner of the Prize of the Federation Wallonia Brussels of this fifth edition of the European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery: Nelli Tanner, Finnish artist.
These jury thoughts are confi rmed when reading the artist statement in the catalogue of the exhibition :
"My work has roots in objects found from a typical old wooden Finnish house. Household objects which were often wooden and made by man with a knife. A broken leather wallet nobody wanted but was kept in the house. I copy and imitate these objects also the way they were made: using a knife or time consuming tools like a hand drill instead of a machine drill. By breaking and rearranging I’m translating the objects again."
