12件作品,4位艺术家,3种颜色和1件巨著,这就是“炼金术之蛋”的展览。本展览由两位金匠,两位珐琅大师来诠释关于练金术的三个阶段。这个展览由策展人Nichka Marobin策划,由Hannah 艺廊(Klimt02)承办。

整个欧洲、埃及和亚洲都曾对大衍术(Ars Magnai,古代对炼金的称呼)的研究,通过对阿拉伯手稿的翻译,这一神秘的知识来到了西欧。从那一刻起,仿若源远流长而静谧的地下河流,人们对这种哲学知识学习和将其付诸于实践的兴趣从未消退过。
炼金术是关于对知识的探索,是一种遗传了千年的传统,一种原始的科学,一种自我的发现。人们通过探求与创造哲人之石,追寻对物质转化来寻求永生。炼金术是化学的萌芽阶段:这是一门曾被认为无比晦涩难懂的学科, 甚至是一种巫术、一种自我认知的关键。而根据Jung(荣格)的说法,以上这些纷繁复杂的内容仅仅是炼金术内容的沧海一粟。

古希腊语Chēmeía的意思是“合金化”,据称其就是将其他金属转化为黄金的实践过程,不过这一过程的最终目的远不止如此,而是想要达到知识、灵知与自然三者之间的完美和谐的结合。所谓炼金术的研究就是通过对知识的三个阶段的探索以及混合不同的元素,以及将火作为其中转化的重要媒介,从而改变物质的形态。我们强调炼金术中的这些概念,希望这些概念能够启发我们四位当代艺术首饰家们进行创作,让他们用作品来展示他们对哲人之石的探求过程。

通过遵循炼金术中黑化(nigredo),白化(albedo)和赤化(rubedo)三个阶段,我们希望通过使用火、金属和珐琅来确定我们当代的炼金术认知路径,从而进一步了解艺术家们是如何通过调制、溶解、分离、蒸馏、净化、修复等方式对物质进行干预,从而改变物质的存在状态。炼金艺术家们所作出的这些改变可以说是内嵌式的,他们一方面是为了完全粉碎时间这一概念,另一方面,则是进一步把这个概念重构、固定在一个有形之物上。

人类(尤其是艺术家们)如何越来越多地对物质进行干预?这种艺术家/炼金术士所做的,对事物内在本质的干预是否可以被看作是对时间性的干涉?炼金术士(以及参与我们展览的艺术家们)是否想要取代时间?这种对时间进行彻底粉碎的概念或许并不是出于对现代世界本质的意识形态的期待?我们是先诞生了工匠之人(Homo Faber),还是炼金术士?

我们所有的疑惑仿佛都是一些虚无缥缈的线索,但在隐约之间将我们指引向了荷兰画家Jheronymus Bosch的作品(Jheronymus Bosch,出生于‘S-Hertogenbosch,Brabant公国,约公元1450年-1516年)。
与他有关的一切似乎都是一个谜团:比如他画作中描绘的景象、地狱和愉悦,他笔下的怪物与男性。历史档案中关于他的生平事迹记录甚少,我们很难从中捕捉到和他相关的蛛丝马迹。而对于他的作品我们也总是争论不断,比如人们总是在探讨他作品的创作顺序,他作品的归属问题。他的作品一而再,再而三,永远不断地散发着吸引人的魔力、魅力。我们仍不知道Bosch作品的魅力究竟有多么巨大,以至于像西班牙的菲利普二世这样的国王(Philip II of Spain)也是如此倾心于这些作品,他大量地收藏了Bosch的作品。

在光与影的面纱之后,Bosch的画作总隐藏着鲜为人知的秘密, 让人感觉无从道明。经过多年的研究,人们找到了一些关键的线索来解读Bosch的画作,也已知道了他严格的作画三步骤,但是仍然对他所描绘的所有画作场景中最中心的内容一无所知。

Bosch的作品受到许多方面的影响,但根据我们的研究,其中最大的影响因素是与炼金术有关的作品。在Bosch的作品中散布着各类蛋状物、贝壳和球体等元素:通过大量的象征符号的辅助,这些元素不得不让人怀疑其与炼金术之间的关系。蛋状物被认为是炼金术容器的象征,这一元素的存在感在Bosch的画布上尤为突出。

至此,炼金术之蛋便是一切的开始,是诞生了美的原初之卵(传说从ab ovo这个蛋中诞生了希腊神话中美的化身,Helen),同时这也是我们旅程的终点,让我们重新忆起时间与物质之间的循环之律。
