Ars Longa. Medicine and Art, An Endless Journey for Human Healing

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, once said, Ars longa, Vita brevis. This famous aphorism has often been translated as Art is long, life is short. However, considering the original meaning of ars which aligns closer to the word skillfulness (technē), the proverb denotes that learning and acquiring a medical skill takes so long that a lifetime may not be adequate.
