Intro
The fair is unique in providing direct, personal contact between the artists and the public, without intervention of galleries or mediators.

The 6th edition of Kunstbeurs Heemstede will be set up along the same lines as former editions: it is organised by participating artists.
The Art Fair Heemstede began in 2012 on the initiative of a few artists from Heemstede. The first edition was an instant success. The fair is unique in providing direct, personal contact between the artists and the public, without intervention of galleries or mediators. As an art fair, Kunstbeurs Heemstede aims to continue to grow and develop. To maintain the quality and diversity of the artworks on show, a strong selection of artists. With that in mind , an external balloting committee has selected more than 50 artists in a variety of disciplines: Visual Art and Drawing, Sculpture, Photography, Ceramics, Jewellery, Glassblowing, Graphic Art, Assemblage, Mixed Media and Installation. This 6th edition of Kunstbeurs Heemstede boasts an art fair within an art fair with the addition of the Ceramics Collectors’ Fair, offering ceramic art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Just like other years, a visit to Kunstbeurs Heemstede promises to be a fascinating and yet playful adventure.

Birgit Laken. Brooch: Flying heart brooch, 2010. Silver. 6.5 x 3.8 x 4 cm. From series: Heartwork.
. In addition to my 3D printed jewellery and a demo of the haptic Anarkik3D programme
. I use to design this, I show my Animaled and my Heart work series.
. Living close at the sea, I used the beach, a place for contemplation,
. romantic meetings and fun to investigate certain matters of the heart.
. The project began with making heart shaped sculptures in the wet sand by the waterside.
. The waves and the tide gradually changed and swept away the sculptures.
. I took pictures of this process and made a series of brooches based on these images.
. The photos and the jewellery are intimately tied together in small installations that tell about love.
