ausgezeichnet! most excellent!
jewellery _ art for heroes

Are there nowaday heroes? Who are they and (how) would we spot them?
Modern honouring culture and questioning the image of real or fictional heroes took center stage of the artistic reflections.

Well-known artists and likewise students from about 25 countries found impressive answers and expressed all of this in their works of jewellery art, photography, sculpture or videoart. They interpreted the topic very individually, high emotional dedicated and created works with a big sociopolitical relevance. The exhibition shows a selection of the wonderful works which entered on an open call of the Chemnitz artist's association from all over the world. A high-profile board of trustees made the decision and selected the exhibits for the show at Wasserschloß Klaffenbach.

The impressive, often unexpectedly artistic positions are corresponding with a few selected pieces from the collection of the Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr in Dresden. In context with these pieces, a big time-historical arc is stretched and impressive relations are originated between the very different exhibits.

ausgezeichnet! most excellent! is a common project of the Chemnitz artist's association, the Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr and the Institute of European Studies of the Chemnitz University.
