The animal kingdom has long inspired both visual arts and elements of adornment. True to their philosophy of wearable contemporary jewellery, also driven by a certain sense of humour and detachment, the gallerists at Hectare have selected six artists from near and far to celebrate fauna.

The creations of Miriam Arentz, Monika Brugger, Benedikt Fischer, Lore Langendries, Märta Mattsson, and Vivienne Varay play with attraction and repulsion without avoiding the question of the materials summoned: imitated or real, reinvented or recycled. The bestiary – this educational imagery – transforms here into a cabinet of curiosities.
Where the mundane adorns itself with preciousness, where the object becomes a story, and where diverted familiarity dares to touch the strange.
