The Installation Birzt Asaras by the Latvian jewelry artist Madara Keidža evocatively explores the deep, ancient connections between the human body, nature, and the divine.
Birzt Asaras is a concept of crumbling or disintegration (birzt) intertwined with the imagery of tears (asaras) dropping, alluding to both the fragility and sacredness of the birch sanctuary (birztala).

This exhibition invites visitors to have a journey through a collection of jewelry that transcends mere ornamentation, serving instead as sacred vessels of memory and reverence. It’s not about looking back with longing or regret, not about reflection, not about pain or loneliness. Instead, Madara Keidža invites you to step into a world where appreciation, touch, and acceptance reign, where your inner voice is much stronger than the picture in front of your eyes.
Inspired by pagan traditions of Baltic tribes, the displayed pieces embody a quest to honor the delicate and mesmerizing synergy between humanity and the wilderness. Her work is a tribute to the intertwining of spirit and form, forged from materials like silver that hold the essence of the earth within them. Designs evoke the raw beauty of the natural world and the human desire to connect with it on a deeper level.
These adornments resonate with a primal energy, capturing the intangible link between the physical and the ethereal. Jewelry is not just for the body but for the soul, reflecting a memory system that fizzes with life, ancient stories, and forgotten rituals. Each piece is a manifestation of the ongoing dialogue and a reminder of the spirits that dwell within both. Testament to the beauty of simply being—to appreciating the elements, textures and forms that surround us and the history that has shaped us. It’s about recognizing and accepting both our past and ourselves, without judgment or sorrow.
Madara Keidža (1994) is a Latvian contemporary jewelry artist known for her sui generis design that explores themes related to nature, personal identity, seeing jewelry as a sign of tradition, experience and belonging. She incorporates natural materials and elements such as wood, stones, amber and metals. Keidža has participated in various group exhibitions and art projects in Latvia and internationally, including Academia (2019, The Arsenāls Exhibition Hall of the Latvian National Museum of Art), Fresh meat for critique (2019, AAL Graduate work exhibition), Perfect mess (2019, Tallinn Street Quarter Art Quarter), 1919 199+ (2016, Art Academy of Latvia), Viņas da(r)bā (2016, Goethe-Institut Riga), Autor 2016 - International Contemporary Jewellery Fair (2016, Bucharest, Romania).
Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 10 am - 6 pm. Saturday: 11 am - 4 pm.
The exhibition is curated by Jevgēnija Hamudajeva.

it's not about memories
it's not about reflection
not about pain
loneliness
it's about appreciation
about touch
about accepting
history and yourself.
Mesmerizing human touch and nature synergy. How it is to be, to explore, to know and always asking. About the journey, about experience. Belonging to what you tell. Of what you feel, not what you see.
