Bloody Mary brings together works by two artists who in spite of their different approaches, reflect the same kind of playful humour.
Artist list
Fernão Cruz, Teresa Garrett
Teresa Garrett uses elaborate techniques associated with restoration and the decorative arts, from her former training, that she applies to ordinary shapes, casually found, to which she gives new lives, as is the case with the meticulously lacquered necklaces. The same references are visible in the faces with a seraphic expression, manufactured in parchment and woodcock feathers, also known as painter’s feathers since they are used for painting illuminations.
Fernão Cruz, with a career in the fine arts, indifferent to all elements or decorative techniques, manufactures in joyful and immediate manner objects in painted papier-maché, creating humorous signage with everyday symbols that brings back the memory of the magnets that once lived on his refrigerator. / Tereza Seabra, July 2020 (Translated by Rosa Tyszkiewicz)
Opening: Saturday, 11th of July from 11h to 19h.
