Following an international jury selection, 147 artists and groups were chosen. Including contributions from jury members, the exhibition features 153 groups of artworks. With no restrictions on themes or concepts, the selection focused on works worthy of repeated contemplation. The selected artworks were buried in Jieshi Mountain, eastern China, to experience the passage of time and the forces of nature before being unearthed in 2026 and presented like archaeological artifacts.

At its core, SEEDING transforms time into both an artistic medium and a curatorial method. Burial becomes an experiment in art's enduring relevance: Will today's artistic ideas remain meaningful and convincing years later? Can they withstand the test of time? What is being examined is not merely material durability, but the art itself. Once unearthed, these works may no longer be considered "contemporary." In this sense, SEEDING is an "exhibition of the future," where artworks and artists alike encounter new perspectives through time.
Words cannot fully convey an artwork's meaning; the artwork itself is the artist's language. Burying these pieces creates a "time capsule" of contemporary jewelry, preserving today's artistic ideas and practices for the future. Yet preservation does not imply stillness. Like seeds sown into the earth, the artworks are entrusted to time and nature, carrying the potential for unexpected transformation. Existing across both space and time, they form new relationships and take on different states. Even if they disappear entirely, each may leave behind the seeds of something yet to come.
On October 24, 2024, nearly 40 large boxes of artworks and materials were transported from our Beijing studio to Jieshi Mountain, the place celebrated in the ancient Chinese verse, "Facing east toward Jieshi Mountain, I gaze upon the vast sea." There, the works were surrendered to the earth, forming a symbolic "jewelry graveyard" and opening a dialogue on life, death, nature, art, and the future. The burial was completed on November 1, 2024. Two years later, the time capsule is ready to open. The artworks will emerge from the earth to be seen and interpreted anew.
Schedule:
Time of "Unearthing": November 6–8, 2026(undetermined) ,Closed to the public,Live streamed on Instagram
Time of exhibition: 9-20 November 2026
Closing Ceremony: 16 November 2026 (No Opening Ceremony)
The exhibition runs from November 9 to 20, 2026. The artworks will be unearthed in Jieshi from November 6 to 8 and transported to the exhibition venue on November 9.
Over the following seven days, a public "archaeological" process will unfold in the gallery. Curators will gradually remove soil from the artworks, creating an evolving exhibition that changes daily. Rather than a static display, SEEDING becomes a living, unrepeatable experience.
The closing ceremony on November 16 marks the symbolic completion of VONMO's First Five-Year Exhibition Plan, while opening possibilities for its next chapter.
