Bio
Elvira Cibotti is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has taken classes in contemporary jewelry design at Gabriela Horvat's studio, in addition to many seminars and workshops. She has shown her work at different national and international exhibitions, like the Musée du Bijou Contemporain "Espace Solidor" in Cagnes Sur Mer, France. She has always been an avid observer of her surroundings. The impressions and feelings embossed in her mind have made her feel the need to talk about how she sees and feels the world.Statement
Through jewelry, I have found a way to express myself and evoke what really matters to me. In that way, bodies work as the framework that carries my thoughts and spread my message. In an attempt to make my process more personal, a few years ago, I started to look for another material. My first choice was paper. I wanted to re-signify those images and articles that would be discarded, give them a second life. And that is how recycled paper became my main material. Each layer of paper contributes to give strength, color, and shape to the piece. While joining the coats, I can’t stop thinking that, similar to my pieces, humans are more fragile alone than together. And as a community, we can achieve so much more. I hope, one day, we are all going to realize that.
