From October 2 to 4, 2025, the iconic Palau de Pedralbes will host the second edition of CONTEMPORANIA Barcelona — the biennial that is establishing itself as a key meeting point for high contemporary craftsmanship on both a national and international scale.
Three days of fair and events in the city of Barcelona will bring together award-winning artists, world-leading institutions, galleries and a curated selection of participants to showcase global talent, creativity and innovation.
This is a unique opportunity to experience the artistry and work that defines the best of the art and crafts nowadays.
A showcase for creativity and talent, CONTEMPORANIA is Barcelona's biennial high craftsmanship fair. This unique event, supported by the collaboration of public and private entities, is a meeting point for design lovers, artisans, and creatives from all over the world.
The fair is curated by a Cultural Council, which ensures that each piece and every exhibitor reflects the quality and innovation that define contemporary craftsmanship. With a focus on artistic crafts, visitors will be able to explore a wide range of works from ceramics to wood, glass, textiles, and more, all in an environment that celebrates the excellence in the crafts sector.
This event aims to build bridges between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary expressions, positioning high craftsmanship as a living cultural heritage and a driver of economic development with international projection. For three days, the fair will serve as a strategic platform to promote high craftsmanship, fostering dialogue and strengthening the creative ecosystem from a contemporary perspective.
In addition to the main three-day fair program at the Palau de Pedralbes, the city will host the OFF C circuit, offering a schedule of parallel activities in prominent galleries and cultural venues across Barcelona. This will enrich the experience and encourage interaction between professionals, institutions, collectors, and the general public.
Also within the CONTEMPORANIA framework, the 4th Professional Craft Congress, promoted by the CCAM, will take place on October 3 at the same venue. This edition will address a crucial issue for the sector: the training of artistic trades and the transmission of knowledge.
CONTEMPORANIA is open to the general public and will be free to attend, with prior registration. The 4th Professional Craft Congress is aimed at craft professionals, is also free, and will require prior registration. The detailed program of CONTEMPORANIA and the Professional Craft Congress will be announced soon.
HIGHLIGHTS
Supported by the Generalitat through the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda (CCAM) of the Department of Business and Labor of Catalunya, CONTEMPORANIA Barcelona becomes a biennial fair and reaffirms its dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability in artistic crafts. The international biennial fair will feature more than 150 creators, represented by institutions, galleries, associations, collectives, and independent artists from different countries, who will present their work through various applied arts such as ceramics, jewelry, lacquer, metal, textiles, glass, paper, and wood.
