Bio

Rachel Darbourne is a British artist living and practicing in Plymouth. With a MA in Jewellery, Silversmithing and Related Products from the Birmingham School of Jewellery, Darbourne is an active member of the contemporary jewellery community.  Her artistic practice explores her personal perceptions and confusions about the world and reflects upon the politics, psychology, philosophy, and the seemingly existential predisposition to violence of human nature.  Darbourne is currently the co-curator of SENSEability with Drew Markou which will open in Munich during Schmuck 2015.

Statement

There was a murder.
There was little understanding.
The crimes escalated.
Enlightenment dawned.
The greed for bodies is now insatiable……
A warning - be wary for your discarded childhood memories, the token of love generously given yet discarded……
Emotional and physical transgressions, dismemberment, disfigurement, sexual-mutation, all perpetrated against the sacred, the innocent transitional object.
Oh what fun……
