I was born in Lisbon. I first came into contact with metals when I was very young, in the António Arroio secondary school in 1984. The school specializes in applied arts, and it changed my life. Later, between 1987 and 1991, I studied jewelry in Ar.Co, an independent art school in Lisbon, and found my personal way of expression. I founded the ZDB gallery, the first alternative gallery in Lisbon, in 1995. I worked for 10 years for a company making jewelry collections for museum shops. In 2004, I received a subsidy from the fine arts department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for my project with puppets entitled “Passage to the Other Side”. Between 2007 and 2012, I owned and managed Gallery ARTICULA, making and selling jewelry and objects. Now I have a new atelier in a truly central location in Lisbon, Largo de Camões. Now I’m teaching jewelry techniques in the school that I graduated from.
