Slovenian Jewelry Week is an internationally recognized central platform dedicated to contemporary jewelry design. It functions as a space for creativity, innovation, and professional exchange, bridging past, present, and future while celebrating craftsmanship, artistic vision, and the personal languages of designers from Slovenia and around the world.
The theme Substance / Reimagined explores materiality and the shifting boundaries between the physical, symbolic, and digital worlds. It addresses questions of origin, essence, and transformation of matter, examining how substance is understood, perceived, and redefined within contemporary jewelry today.
In a time shaped by digitization, artificial intelligence, and virtual realities, the exhibition asks:
What is substance today? Where does its essence reside? When does reimagining begin?
The exhibition highlights the dialogue between tradition and modern technologies, bodily experience and virtual space, intuition and algorithmic logic. Substance is not approached merely as tangible matter, but as a carrier of memory, vibration, narrative, and meaning—a field where the material and immaterial meet.
Artists are invited to explore tensions and convergences between the physical and the virtual, the material and the spiritual, form and essence. Within this context, substance may also become a quiet form of rebellion: a return to slowness, authenticity, sensory intelligence, imagination, and embodied experience in a world of replication and acceleration.
