Robin Deriaz

Bio

Robin Deriaz is a contemporary artist-jeweller who lives and works in Corseaux, Switzerland. Partly self-taught, partly taught through working as a bench jeweller, he then obtained a bachelor’s degree in Jewellery and accessories design at HEAD-Geneva in 2025. He focused on hand-fabricated sculptural pieces, made with traditional jewellery techniques and using a variety of materials from precious to non-precious. Since his graduation, his work has been exhibited in Germany, Slovenia, Poland and England.
He received the honourable mention of the city of Gdańsk for his Pacifier piece presented during the 22nd edition of the Polish National Artistic Jewelry Competition PRESENTATIONS 2026 Silence.

Statement

I approach creation as a deeply emotional, experimental and sculptural process, grounded in material research and traditional hand-fabrication. My visual language draws from nature, industrial structures, and the overlooked details of everyday life, translating them into recurring themes of protection, containment, and physical transformation. To materialise these concepts, I create a dialogue between metal and raw or organic elements like plaster, brick, amber, shellac, and custom patinas.

Through direct benchwork, I look for tension between brutality and refinement, or the industrial and the natural. I am drawn to how materials can be altered, eroded, or layered, allowing traces of time and process to remain visible in the finished piece. I want my jewellery to be a narrative experience, intimate and sometimes slightly unsettling, designed to challenge our relationship with our surroundings. My goal is to trigger genuine friction and curiosity: to prompt the viewer to pause, interrogate unfamiliar materials, and look past immediate aesthetic value.

Jewellery allows me to bring these reflections down to the intimate scale of the body, creating a direct connection with the self. More than just an ornament, I see it as an art medium where memory, the message of the work, and its value can be worn.
