Jeweller

Bio
Maja Licul graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1995. Since 2016, together with her partner Aleksandra Atanovski, she has co-founded EHO, Studio for Contemporary Jewellery in Ljubljana, where she creates and exhibits her work, as well as showcases the creations of selected colleagues. Her jewellery is inspired by silent walks in the forest, an attentive study of natural forms, and a playful exploration of their underlying laws. She allows these forms to evolve through meticulous physical work at the bench, letting material and craft guide the final shape.Although Maja has been making jewellery since childhood, it has become her primary focus over the last decade. In 2016, she opened EHO Studio with Aleksandra Atanovski, and in 2025, they inaugurated a spacious gallery in Ljubljana’s city center.
Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Ljubljana Jewellery Week, the Metallophone Exhibition in Vilnius (2024), Munich Jewellery Week (2025), and Design Without Borders in Budapest (2025).
Statement
My work is rooted in a constant observation of the forest. I try to penetrate behind the visual surface and observe with mind and emotions. I try to exclude my own expression in this process, so the forms of my work are achieved by the laws of materials and principles that surround me.-
