About Vonmo Exhibition Projects:
After two years of preparations since 2014, Felicia Li, Director of Vonmo, and Yusen Feng officially established Vonmo Art Jewelry Studio in 2016. We are committed to pursuing the innovative direction of integration between contemporary art jewelry and traditional Chinese culture. Since 2019, we have curated Vonmo’s 1st Five-Year Plan, namely once a year and a new theme for each. We associate international artists to show jewelry works at home and abroad with the aim of creating a pure, equal, fair, diverse, and professional exchange platform for contemporary art jewelry.

"From my emails with more than 200 artists, I could easily identify what they have done for the theme and quickly distinguish the works of sophisticated and young artists. Artists discover and construct their unique artistic practices. Their contributions vary wonderfully in going beyond the classic creative paradigm. Since there is no limit to the wearability of the art works this year, the artists enjoy greater freedom in their creation. So I have seen many interesting objects/sculptures, which allows greater dimensions of interpretation of “the soul”. Actually, topics related to “the soul” and “life and death” are commonplace and traditional, which makes it difficult to come up with new ideas. But I am not worried at all, because many artists have given us new answers this time. I am also no longer concerned about problems like “a major feature of contemporary art being decreasingly technical.” I believe that the works presented to the audience at the exhibition in the future will expose everyone to their uniqueness—the artists’ different perspectives of looking at the soul and the world, their values and beliefs, and the proper amount of technology.

Artists will have completed the theme of "Purifying the Soul" only after they have gone through the complete process of extracting the "Soul" for creation, screening the "Soul", and finally conducting the “Purifying”. The VONMO 3rd 2022 “Purifying the Soul” Contemporary Jewelry Exhibition( Qinghai ) may be regarded as a performance art of me as a curator: we do not need people as the audience, as we are to show the artists' "souls" to heaven and earth, and to souls of a higher dimension. Transition from the last chapter of the second exhibition — "Reinventing Self": Self-reconciliation is also a kind of escape from death, or the symbol of self-“Purifying”. Through "Purifying" our earthly desires, perhaps we, earthly souls, can return to the beginning of the world, where souls are reborn. I hope that this time, we will not just superficially discuss "what is contemporary jewelry", "the boundaries between jewelry and body", or technical things, but hope that my performance will enable people to see that, beyond life and death, souls can have a higher level of "great love". The whole process will be filmed by our team in the form of a documentary, and a film will be finally made available for online viewing.

Next, the shortlisted artists will send their works to VONMO’s studio in Beijing, and I will repackage all the works that will be displayed at the “purifying” ceremony in Qinghai. Since the ceremony takes place in the sparsely populated natural environment by Qinghai Lake, we have customized flight cases& of the same size for these 60 works to protect them. After the ceremony, they will be transferred to Beijing in preparations for the Aranya itinerant exhibition. The bumpy road is also a test of the packaging. While the works are being packaged, we will release the exhibition posters for the shortlisted artists one after another. Information about the Qinghai Exhibition and the itinerant exhibition will also be updated in the official WeChat account." - Felicia Li
