Carlo Lucidi Gallery is proud to present I Paint Flowers So They Will Not Die, an extraordinary collective exhibition featuring the works of female artists only from across the globe. This exhibition delves into the intricate dynamics between creativity, resilience, and feminine identity through the lens of contemporary jewelry.
Bringing together the voices of over 80 women artists, each with a powerful and distinctive artistic voice, the exhibition pays homage to the legacy of Frida Kahlo, 70 years after her passing. Kahlo, an iconic figure not just for her art but for her unyielding inner strength, serves as a symbol of rebirth and transformation. Her famous quote, "I Paint Flowers So They Will Not Die," becomes the perfect epitaph for this exhibition, which is not only a tribute but also a reflection on the role of art as a tool to capture and preserve the essence of life and emotion.
Featuring more than 300 jewelry pieces, each one tells a story of strength, suffering, renewal, and beauty, embodying the imagery of contemporary art that transcends the boundaries of simple adornment to become a cultural manifesto. The artists, using materials and techniques ranging from ceramics to gold, from fabrics to recycled metals, offer an intimate and multifaceted portrait of femininity, engaging in a subtle yet powerful dialogue with Kahlo’s themes: pain, hope, duality, identity.
This exhibition becomes a moment of reflection not only on the work of Frida Kahlo but also on the state of contemporary art created by women, in a world where their voice is more necessary than ever. The works on display are not mere pieces of jewelry, but symbols of a constant struggle to affirm the value of female creativity in a historically and culturally challenging context.
