This biennial exhibition, this time featuring the work of 33 artists from the Netherlands and abroad, highlights current developments in the field of paper art and lets you enjoy fantastic activities. Sustainability, identity, migration, and the seemingly endless possibilities of artisanal and modern techniques such as origami and AI are recurring themes in the exhibition. Of course, a new edition of the Tour de Papier cycling and walking route is available, you can discover more about the history of the paper industry in the Veluwe and get started with paper and cardboard yourself - in CODA and beyond!
Impressive, grand and captivating, but also extremely fine and artisanally crafted. Colourful and exuberant or modest and tactile. Young talent, established artists and innovative design projects. Tangible work and online creations; in this edition of CODA Paper Art the variety is greater than ever. Thematically, the exhibition is also very varied. Sustainability, identity and migration are recurring themes. For example, with her spectacular work Stones of the Sky, Matea Bakula once again assigns value to recycled paper. These boulders, made of pressed photo paper and pulp, appear to be made of marble. With this work, Bakula refers to marble mining and the paper, depicted as precious marble, is given a different value and meaning. Akmar also uses residual materials. For years, she kept a diary about consumption habits and collected various packaging. CODA Paper Art shows her Commercial Crosses; a colourful wall installation of packaging in cross shapes made of cardboard and gold leaf. During CODA Paper Art, CODA ExperienceLab focuses on innovation and sustainable use of paper. The Lab's Showroom features an installation that shows how printers and faxes have influenced the use and format of paper. CODA ExperienceLab also invites visitors to think about the future of paper with social and speculative designers.
