This collective project started in April 2015. It was a collaboration between Joya Brava, the Chilean Contemporary Jewellery Association and Jorge Manilla, the Mexican-Belgian renowned artist and jeweller. He did a tutorship to 20 jewellery artists, and also worked as the curator of the exhibition.

The aim of the jewellers was to make visible their identity, their own way of making works from their Latin American roots. With a particular academic practice, new to the Chilean jewellery field, they worked in two stages; a concentrated face to face workshop and a more reflexive stage from distance.
“Common Stories” is a proposal of personal subjectivities, where the artists cross sensibility and materials, which talk about the ordinary, being everything that surrounds every day life. Through the artworks all the invisibility of the common is raised to visibility, in a poetic dimension.

Domestic aesthetics, home ornamentation, aging of materials, patches, precarious repairs and all class of ingenious solutions, which transform and keep useful those objects of every day life.
This exhibition has a deeply Latin American presence in the archipelago of these aesthetics, which tell its own story in a material and not literal way.
