After being presented in Munich, Legnica and Barcelona through 2017, the exhibition Relatos Habituales (Common Stories) is finally being showed for the first time in Santiago de Chile, at Centro Cultural Las Condes, one of the most supportive museums in Chile for contemporary jewellery nowadays.
Along with the exhibition, Joya Brava has also organized a program with open conferences on Saturday the 21st and 28th of July, and guided visits during weekends.
Artist list
Viviana Arévalo, Soledad Avila, Pascale Durandin, Mónica Díaz-Pinto, Loreto Fernández, Gabriela Harsanyi, Caco Honorato, Noelle Labarthe, Paulina Latorre, Joyce Marin, Valeria Martínez, Clarisa Menteguiaga, Monoco, Ana Nadjar, Liliana Ojeda, Cecilia Roccatagliata, Vania Ruíz, Natalia Saldías, Rita Soto Ventura, Pía Walker, Massiel del Mar
Relatos Habituales (Common Stories) is a collaboration between Joya Brava, the Chilean Contemporary Jewellery Association and Jorge Manilla, the Mexican-Belgian renowned artist and jeweler who worked with us as a tutor for each artist.
Relatos Habituales (Common Stories) is a proposal of personal subjectivities, where the artists cross sensibility and materials, which talk about the ordinary, being everything that surrounds everyday life. Through the artworks, all the invisibility of the common is raised to visibility, in a poetic dimension.
Domestic aesthetics, home ornamentation, ageing of materials, patches, precarious repairs and all class of ingenious solutions, which transform and keep using those objects of everyday life.
This exhibition has a deeply Latin American presence in the archipelago of these aesthetics, which tells its own story in a material and not literal way.
