Intro
Patina’s Contemporary Estate Collection is an exclusive trove of rare, seminal works, which have been loved and collected over time. The exhibition tells the story of its pre-cherished history and how art doesn't have to have a shelf life; rather, quality and well cared for works can last forever.
Patina Gallery, located in the downtown, historic arts district of Santa Fe, NM is pleased to announce the opening of The Contemporary Estate Collection, dedicated to rare, seminal pieces of handmade jewelry and objects of fine art from across the United States and Europe. The exhibition will have an online release and bricks & mortar opening, Friday, November 22nd 2019 with a gallery reception from 5 - 7 pm MST on 131 West Palace Avenue.

For the first time in the gallery’s 20-year history, collectors will be able to seamlessly view some of Patina’s finest examples of contemporary craft in one place. Included in the collection are estate works by sought-after New Mexico, Nambé Pueblo artist, Lonnie Vigil. Long-time collector, Peter Frank, entrusted the works to Patina.

Patina is a unique gallery that represents artists of international reputation and exceptional workLonnie Vigil’s work fits easily within Patina’s curatorial spectrum and looks magnificent when associated with the beautiful, high-quality jewelry and materials in the gallery.
Peter Frank, Patina Gallery Collector

Highlights of the collection involve significant works by innovative and celebrated artists of the 20th & 21st Centuries. The colorful explorations of artist, Earl Pardon stun one with his extraordinary materials and technique that propelled him as a leader in the post-WWII studio-craft movement. Carrie Adell, an artist whose passion for metalsmithing, combined with her painter’s eye made her adornment truly one-of-a-kind.

In addition, Patina will show an exclusive collection from the closed, Boston jewelry studio, Atelier Janiyé; owned and operated by master jewelers, Alexandra Watkins and Nancy Michel. The jewelers were innovative in their field and exercised inventive designs while working primarily in high karat gold. Their entire jewelry collection is only found at Patina Gallery.

Patina has been entrusted with personal and very astute collections. These pieces have given joy and pleasure to their collectors and now they go back into the world as rarified and coveted treasures with their own unique history.
