The jewelry firm Majoral presents pieces in its Ibiza store emerged from a collaboration with artist Stella Rahola. Majoral understands jewelry as a tool of expression that can dialogue with different disciplines: art, design, architecture, music, literature, gastronomy... from this, the project "Create with..." was born.
Artist list
Stella Rahola Matutes
Enric and Roc Majoral collaborate with various creators to bring the world different and enriching points of view of jewelry. After collaborations with artists Gilbert Herreyns, Willie Márquez, Alfons Borrell, and Erwin Bechtold, Create with... follows its path with artist Stella Rahola Matutes.
For the project Create with..., Stella Rahola presents us with the jewel Sa Figa. The pendants are produced in Rahola's and Majoral's workshops. The pieces are all different, numbered, and signed by the artist. It is a small object of art transformed into a jewel.
As a woman, I review the manual techniques historically developed by men (such as blown glass or metal embossing). Starting from crafts as a sustainable, productive, collaborative, and memory process, I ask myself, physically, about the possibilities of doing, as a way of renewing the relationship with our material culture. Through complex, physically demanding, and almost alchemical processes, I claim the crucial role of the hands and the body as knowledge capacities. Subverting these practices to their limits, I aim for a state of transformation of the material, reaching a point of uncomfortable fragility, accentuating its life cycle to dispel the ontological binary of life and matter.
