Jeweler's Werk Galerie is pleased to open Cycle, an exhibition of new work by German artist-jeweler Katrin Feulner.
Artist list
Katrin Feulner
Feulner singularly focuses on the form of the circle to create the necklaces, and brooches that compromise this exhibition. For this exploration, she hand saws gold, silver, bronze and powder-coated steel to create numerous iterations of the shape with varying surface textures. According to the artist, 'Cycle is a silent concentration about one form and its movement - the circle... searching for its repetition and rotation to create rhythm and balance and finding a line without an obvious beginning and ending.' The pieces in Cycle continue to have an industrial quality exhibited in Feulner's previous work, but here the metal works are periodically softened by the addition of linen ribbon or pearls.
Based in Pforheim, Germany, Katrin Feulner graduated from the University of Pforzheim School of Design in 2015. She has won multiple prestigious international awards and exhibited worldwide. Feulner’s pieces are represented in the permanent collections of notable museums, including CODA in the Netherlands and the Pforzheim Jewelry Museum. Feulner is represented exclusively in the U.S. by Jewelers’Werk Galerie.
The exhibition is open during gallery hours: Monday through Saturday 11 am – 5 pm or by appointment. Jewelers’Werk Galerie is located at 3319 Cady’s Alley, NW in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. It is the longest-running and only contemporary art jewelry gallery of its kind in the greater Washington DC area, where owner and industry veteran Ellen Reiben shows precious and non-precious works by international artist-jewelers.
