The Marguerite/Daisy brooch, which is known by most Danes, has almost become a national symbol over time, in line with the national flag Dannebrog. The enamel brooch saw the light of day at Queen Margrethe's baptism in 1940, a time where Denmark had just been occupied by Nazi Germany. The jewellery company Michelsen produced in thousands of brooches for this day of national celebration. The people soon embraced the motif and the brooch as a symbol of resistance to the Nazi occupation of the country at that time. Since then, the brooch has been produced in hundreds of thousands of copies and by several different companies. So many that one can reasonably say that most families in Denmark own a copy.
The exhibition shows paraphrases, new versions, rewrites, comments, etc. of the marguerite brooch and its present meaning and symbolic value.

. Even though lackadaisical sounds like it has something to do with a shortage of daisies, know that what it really means is lacking in spirit or liveliness. But it's more of a dreamy, laid back approach rather than sheer laziness. The adjective came about in the eighteenth century from the interjection lackaday, which was an old fashioned way of saying "oh man!" or "unfortunately.". Gitte Nygaard
