David Phillips

"This work deals with notions of reflection, opticality and density in contemporary jewellery practice. I position this practice within a broader notion of ‘material culture’, referencing industrial processes, found objects and everyday design solutions; as well as post-Minimalist sculpture. Light and the optical properties of materials – such as aluminium foil, spray chrome, plastics and resins – are explored for their ability to make forms and structures luminous, ambiguous or enigmatic".
