Contemporary jewellery takes center stage during the months of September and October in the Disseny Hub Barcelona building run by Museu del Disseny de Barcelona and the FAD Association of Artists and Artisans (A-FAD). The program will kick off with the opening of the exhibition "Enric Majoral. The expanded Jewel", organized by the Museum, and the Enjoia’t Awards, organized by the A-FAD, both on September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
The Enjoia’t International Contemporary Jewellery Awards reach their 27th edition, presenting the most transgressive pieces that question the limits of contemporary jewellery itself. The event, which this year has received more entries than ever, wants to realize the importance of this artistic discipline in our country and worldwide, with the most cutting-edge proposals in the sector.
The exhibition includes a total of 26 pieces divided into two categories: 14 jewels selected in the Professional category and 12 in the Student category. Those in charge of presenting this selection have been the members of the jury, made up of five professionals who, in their respective fields, excel in growing the presence of contemporary jewellery at a local and international level.
This year’s jury was made up of Enric Majoral, jeweller and president of the jury; Grego García, a postgraduate teacher at the Escola Massana and owner of Amaranto joies; Juan Riusech, jeweller, exhibition curator, founder of the Alliages gallery/collective; Trinidad Contreras, jeweller; Leo Caballero, co-founder of Klimt02; and Anna Rafecas, jeweller, enameller and teacher at the Escola d’Art Arsenal.
The 26 pieces can be seen in Space C (floor -1) of the Disseny Hub Barcelona building from the 23rd of September. The jewels denote the international nature of the awards, representing a total of 10 countries: Germany, Canada, Korea, Spain, States United States, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, and Chile.
From all the selected pieces, the jury must choose a maximum of two finalists and a winner in each category. The two winners, both in the Professional and Student categories, will be able to participate for free in Joya Barcelona Fair 2023, a reference fair in southern Europe, and three pieces from their collection will be part of the exhibition circuit 2022-2023 by Alliages gallery/collective, which can be seen at the main events of contemporary jewellery from all Europe.
