Bio
Taibe is a visual artist living in Santiago, Chile. She studied Graphic Design in Santiago and continued studies in Jewellery in Toronto, Canada. Taibe was an author and an illustrator of children's books, at the beginning of her professional life. Since 2005, she has been working as a jewellery designer and artist. In 2015 Taibe founded the jewellery school, “El Tallercito” in Santiago.Statement
My creative process is part of a continuous contemplation, reflection and experimentation. I find strength in the creative process and its innate introspection.Art Jewellery is a medium which allows me to express myself, and the material is the vehicle to communicate it. As I explore my mind, I explore the sensuality of the material, translating my emotions and thoughts into an object. One is the exploration of the material and its limitations, the other is the content of my ideas. I am looking for a sculptural language, a fine line between an art object and a piece of Art Jewellery
Being a woman, Latin American and a political refugee in my childhood has greatly influenced my vision and therefore, my artistic expression. Chile and Latin America are a territory of permanent struggle, which is manifested in the powerful and artistic strength that identifies us. I think about the importance of transmitting our vision and interpretation of life inside and outside of our borders.
