Sustain the Uncertainty is the outcome of the work of Joya Brava during 2019 and 2020, with the mentorship of Francisca Kweitel. What began as another workshop, became a journey and inner struggle for the artists participating and achieving to finish this workshop due to external circumstances.

First, the social revolt in Chile that defined not only the logistical development of the workshop, but also us and our work. Furthermore, the context of pandemic and quarantines made it indeed more difficult to continue developing the project and at times, even thinking that we were not going to be able to finish it. Regardless of the context and the difficulties we faced, an ambience for experimentation and endless surprise emerged; We learned to go further, to look twice, to be unprepared, to doubt and see without judgment or prejudice.

Each piece of this exhibition gives an account of the artistic evolution of the members of Joya Brava. The reflection on such diverse concerns and at the same time so common, like aging, political discontent, the cycle of life, social injustice, the destruction of the environment, and the diversity of materials to explore the technical possibilities according to the artistic and expressive requirements of each one of them, shows a meticulous and thoughtful work in this project.

Project funded by FONDART International Circulation of Works and Joya Brava.
