Artist list
Peter Machata, Jana Machatova
In her new collection ‘Where are you from?‘ Jana comes back to the subject 'memories'. This time she focuses on feelings which aroused from personal experiences with the political system and social situation in her childhood. The aesthetics of panel houses, formal kisses between politicians, mass sport events, children in political organisations... this all has left imprints on her generation. She puts these topics in contrast with traditional ornaments, nostalgic symbol, which lost its meaning during the time of socialism. The jewellery becomes a memento and by wearing it a person has the possibility to expresses his/her opinion.
Peter's collection 'Reliques' is very personal, dealing with a couple's living together. From the jeweller's point of view the wedding ring, as a symbol, is the focus of his interest. Appearances of hands or fragments of hands, with, and specially without rings, are interpreted with digital tools and afterwards combined in compositions: objects from new materials are manufactured with traditional jeweller's methods which create different types of reliquaries
