Intro
(...) Of her work Moore writes "Recently, I've been combining forms that I find appealing based on my interests in biology. I've been creating jewelry forms that become extensions of the body-invented symbiotic organisms. I'm also interested in small sculptural forms that are becoming more abstractly figural as they evolve. I enjoy what is both repellent and seductive." (...)

Jillian Moore
At once weathered and refined, Jillian Moore's anthropomorphic forms exhibit a kind of body language that is specific to their strange breed, and yet recognizable enough to allow them to serve as a proxy for more familiar, human forms of emotion. Through the process of electroforming and then manually eroding and embellishing her copper and silver pieces, Moore is able to produce a range of forms and finishes as varied as the personalities they express. Careful attention to detail is merged with an acceptance of the incidental and the unexpected to create what the artist calls "fruiting bodies, invertebrates, buffoons."

Of her work, the artist says "I am motivated by the pleasurable experience of making. There is sincerity in surfaces that show the slow erosion of my hand’s movement. Whether it’s the circular tedium of wet sanding or the additive and subtractive meandering in my wax forming, these small moves are vital. This kind of focus has become a major motivating factor in my work. I have systematically chosen methods, particularly electroforming, with long stretches of repetitive motion."
