In these precarious times we find it important to speak about the fragile and the human, of our imprint on our surroundings and our surroundings' imprint on us. We speak about being dependent of each other, of the loneliness and the feeling of not being enough. The exhibition is articulated through several objects in different materials and video installations. The works of the artists are made with knowledge from traditional craft practices from the jewellery field, but with an ambition to prioritize the stories beyond the objects.
Artist list
Maja Bakken, Magnus Ekström, Sandra Hiredal, Inga Tsernova, Anna-Kajsa Wikström
The fragile, the human: Ritualistic processing in precarious times.
Something's dripping. We gather, we carry.
It disappears, we are, we breathe, we move.
Humanity: a group of individuals, fragile. Strong and weak, together.
We affect our surroundings and our surroundings affect us.
Something's dripping, disappearing into eternity.
We are humans.
The exhibition invites you to take part of ritualistic processing of materials, objects undergoing change and constant movement. Here, you are offered tea from a leaking and poisonous teapot. Here, a necklace weighing 23 kilos is dragged across the floor. Here you might see bodies intertwined with plants and vegetation, erasing the borders between the body and nature. Here you can find traces you can wear and traces you can leave. Here, the ice melts and reminds us of our own perishability.
There is a melancholic feeling about the exhibition as the ice melts, the teapot drips and the footsteps echo, leave the room and disappear.
The Covid-pandemic has so far kept this exhibition in a digital format. To see video footage of the individual works along with artist interviews, please visit the website.
