Without flights, gallery hunts around the city, or showcases, you’re invited to join a virtual exhibition from anywhere in the world through the live-stream exhibition Lost in Migration curated Elena Karpilova during Munich Schmuck Fair 2025.
Artist list
Laila Marie Costa, Evgenia Elanic, Esteban Erosky, Nastasia Fomina, Juan Harnie, Helen Clara Hemsley, Vershali Jain, Daniel Jirkovský, Tamara Marbl Joka, Militsa Milenkova, Maria Motyleva, Julieta Ruiz Argañaraz, Anastasia Rydlevskaya, Danni Schwaag, Nioosha Vaezzadeh Angoshtarsaz
This virtual project continues the concept of L’Étrangère, which was previously presented in curator's apartment during the Lisbon Contemporary Jewellery Biennial 2024.
You will see works by jewelry artists who once left their countries, often not by choice. Most importantly, you’ll hear personal stories about their emigration experiences, some told firsthand. Probably you never knew what’s hidden behind jewellery pieces you see so often during the shows.
What is it like to flee a country that may later no longer exist on the map?
What is it like to leave your homeland and family behind, sometimes without knowing them?
How could migration manifest in jewelry?
You’ll hear stories from Mexico, Belarus, India, Bulgaria, Greece, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and other countries.
Curator will be the director of this live-stream experience, as well as a medium to convey fragile, invaluable narratives.
You can join in any time, for a few minutes or for an hour. You can listen, see, reflect. You can start a discussion.
