Lückenfüller (literally “gap filler” in German) serves as the central theme of this exhibition. Thirty Austrian jewelry artists present their interpretations of what it means to fill a gap. Through contemporary jewelry, they transform absence into presence and invite visitors to reflect on what lies in between.
Artist list
Sonja Bischur, Eni Cani, Katrin Derakhshifar, Dora Des, Elisabeth Drude, Veresa Eybl, Ursula Guttmann, Elisabeth Habig, Susanne Hammer, Margit Hart, Iris Hummer, Michelle Kraemer, Julia Lausegger, Noah Layr, Martin Lerch, Andrea MAXA Halmschlager, Gerti Machacek, Fritz Maierhofer, Stephie Morawetz, Anita Münz, Elias Neuspiel, Ela Nord, Izabella Petrut, Konstanze Prechtl, Wolfgang Rahs, Haldis Scheicher, Birgit Schlarmann, Eva Tesarik, Birgit Wiesinger, Petra Zimmermann
The project aims to strengthen the international visibility of Austrian jewelry art and contribute actively to current artistic discourse. Through newly created works as well as recontextualised pieces from the artists’ archives, Lückenfüller reveals strategies of filling, exposing, or aesthetically emphasising gaps - both in material and thought.
Following its first presentation in Munich in 2025, the exhibition continues in New York at the renowned Pratt Institute, one of the country’s leading academic institutions for art, design, and architecture. As an official contribution to New York City Jewelry Week - one of the most influential global platforms for contemporary jewelry - this edition expands the project’s international reach.
A dedicated visual identity supports all communication and promotional materials. A newly produced exhibition catalogue accompanies the show, offering insights into the artworks, artists, and curatorial approach.
In addition, a public lecture at the Austrian Cultural Forum New York will further highlight the conceptual framework behind the project.
Lückenfüller is made possible through the generous support of the Pratt Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum New York, and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport (Bundesministerium für Kunst, Kultur, öffentlichen Dienst und Sport). Their collaboration and commitment have been instrumental in realizing this project and in fostering meaningful international exchange within the field of contemporary jewelry.
