Intro
There is, in effect, in the contemplation of this exhibition by Carlos Piñel and Ramón Puig (and the word 'exhibition' here has to do more with the abyss than with art) a fruitful lack of joint deliberation, an absence of initial concordances that it forces the viewer to intervene in two seemingly unintended worlds at the same time.

… That the most beautiful harmony comes from what differs and that everything happens according to discord

What if it has always been this way if the similarities began to reveal themselves in the heat of the discrepancies?

I am talking about that territory in which thought and gaze (that is, consciousness and contemplation) promote a game of unexpected collisions in the face of what they have faced.

Because every act of contemplation (de cum templum) starts from a pause; In other words, of a will to suspend that puts under suspicion the concurrence of time on what is being looked at, which thus extends its silent material impetus before the eyes like a present that continually segregates itself so that, in the end, "the full extent of the unspeakable" is fulfilled, as expressed by José Ángel Valente.

Jewels and paintings here do not harm each other, they do not summon each other, they do not remove each other, they do not harm each other in this space of consent of the unheard of. And matter feels welcomed under the species of that which in various ways denies its usefulness.

The sumptuous was abolished, swept away under the wing of names and words that turn the brooches into pieces of an unusual hybrid nature: Pessoa, Galileo, Monod, Buzzati, Bach… The passion for metals has been lost. Mineral hierarchies are repealed without formalities. Where there were appraisals and perverse mercantile creaks, there is now useless calm, whipped only by beauty. And there is no price: only value. This is how Ramón Puig arranges his pieces beyond the decorative, right on the edge of the cliffs of the imagination (“the mystery grows only”) where silence awaits only, where the order of natural kingdoms shudders: the volcanic lava together alpaca and obsidian, amber, plastic and stone taken on the go.

Like someone who comes with love to attend to the interior -because he knows that the most valuable thing is in the modesty of the bone-, Carlos Piñel hints at slightly bristly silhouettes and an intimate summons of forms, only pending on themselves. It is the reckless search for a hidden story. The painter returns to address only with the effervescence of his loquacious painting of foreign poetic worlds but that already belong to his expressive universe: Aníbal Núñez, Lorca, Gamoneda ... And, however, there is no vocation for replication in this discourse of signs and traces, of glimpses and conjectures. The informal, the organic, and the ancient gluttony of suggestion coexist alongside it without a reason. Pure freedom. Nothing to do with condescension due to any imposed alphabet.

Autonomy and friction (each or both). Stupor of distances (how often and how long). Volume games. Impure proposals. It is the joy of disproportion that governs this unusual conversation of jewels and paintings. And there is nothing praised; it is necessary to press without instructions in advance the relationship of these two expressive universes -Piñel, Puig-, invaded by an improper secret complicity.

Abandon prejudices, and enter without torches in the dripping logic of so much material vibration. The unapproachable rumor of the unforeseen awaits you here. Vibrant, diverse, unanimous. And let yourselves be won by so much stealth, by so much implicit delicacy as it palpitates in these creations that float a lucid mess behind the back of the world.

Of the other world.
Let's leave it here.
