Intro
As an artist I recognise that I have been brought up Pakeha, but am intrigued about addressing this mixing of culture in my life and society as a whole.  I interprete this in different ways in my jewellery, and have no answers.

At the moment, among other things, I’ve been looking at our rich, complicated history New Zealand has with Maori, the appropriation art debate, our crap history as Pakeha (foreigner/New Zealand european) the abuse of Maori in many areas.  My position as a non-Maori, growing up surrounded by Maori kowhaiwhai and art everywhere, going to the Ngati Poneke Young Maori Club as a kid, meeting for the first time my Maori side of the family as a teenager.  As an artist I recognise that I have been brought up Pakeha, but am intrigued about addressing this mixing of culture in my life and society as a whole.  I interprete this in different ways in my jewellery, and have no answers.
