Intro
Plastic trawl netballs have come loose from fishing boats and have drifted around the sea before they got washed ashore, either whole or crushed into pieces. In this solo show Opphav (Origins) by Philipp Spillmann, a selection of jewellery is exhibited made out of plastic netballs found along the northern Norwegian coast. The material itself leads the artist's working process to the final storytelling creations.

The exhibition Opphav (Origins) shows a selection of jewellery made from plastic trawl netballs found along the northern Norwegian coast. The plastic trawl netballs have come loose from fishing boats and have drifted around the sea before they got washed ashore, either whole or crushed into pieces. Some have been broken down along the way and become one with the marine ecosystem and its food chains. It is the material itself that leads the process to the final works; it evokes associations and stories, both at the place of finding and during processing in the workshop.
