Intro
The theme Bijou Brut often finds his way back in his work. Raw authenticity, techniques used in an unorthodox way and a sense of fun and lightness characterise these pieces.

In my many years of work as an artist, certain themes have become crystallised that I home in on again and again. One of these I call "bijou brut": I create jewellery and objects that have a raw authenticity in their shaping and surfaces. The traces of artistic creation are deliberately left visible, techniques are sometimes applied in unorthodox ways and I tend to avoid making the pieces too agreeable. On the other hand, a sense of fun and lightness is definitely conveyed, too. The objects created using my thermal-hydropneumatic moulding process are reminiscent of gingerbread cakes strewn with colourful crumbles, and the emails – partially fired using my own collage technique – are similar to graffiti in their colouring. The sources of inspiration are inexhaustible.

Dipl. Designer (FH) / 1973-1977 tätig in der PGH Erfurt-Schmuck / 1976 Meisterprüfung im Gold- schmiedehandwerk / seit 1977 freischaffend in Erfurt / 1984-2004 Mitinitiator und Ausrichter
der Erfurter Schmucksymposien / seit 1990 Leitung von nationalen und internationalen Workshops.
