The present year, 2013, will be the 33rd anniversary of Marijke Vallanzasca’s activity, as a gallery owner and curator of exhibitions, dedicated to the knowledge and promotion of contemporary jewellery art, with the intention of informing on the renewal of European contemporary jewellery from after the war to the present day, which led to Padua more than 150 international artists, with particular attention to the Masters who have made it’s history.

Padova is a centre of international fame, thanks to the presence of the Art Institute “Pietro Selvatico”, that gave birth to world famous goldsmiths-masters such as Mario Pinton, Francesco Pavan, Giampaolo Babetto, Graziano Visintin.
Exhibitions at the Studio Marijke began in the early '80s, proposing foreign jewellery- designers, who already used poor materials, alternated with the 'golden boys' of Padua, as our goldsmiths were appointed abroad, for the preciousness and great ability in the use of gold.
The intent of the exhibit is to show the public also the sculptures and objects of design of those artists goldsmiths, who over the years have worked with Studio Marijke, and on the other hand invite those artists who have faced the jewel (Armano, Biasi, Chiggio, Finotti). An exchange of roles, an invasion of field, 'digressions' exactly.
The extension of the area of interest may reveal the reasons for the digressions of the artists in the exhibition: the eternal compulsion of the artist to go beyond ... exceeding the limits, challenging himself, innovating, experimenting with different shapes, sizes, materials and technologies.
Given the cultural importance of the exhibition, the participation of famous artists of our town and region in comparison with many European artists of high level, and also for the peculiar 'provocation' and unusual combination - jewel - sculpture – objects - a group of friends, lovers of the arts, gathered to support it’s implementation, take the initiative to bring the project to the attention of the Mayor and the Councillor for Culture, with the request to grant an appropriate public space for the exhibition.
