This exhibition offers an insight into the designer’s intellectual and emotional world. The selection of Ted Noten's own work includes the famous Lady K Bag edition Prada with gold pistol, the Dutch launch of his latest collection Seven Necessities, and the interactive installation Wanna Swap Your Ring.
Ted Noten is invited by the Stedelijk Museum ’s-Hertogenbosch to curate the inaugural exhibition for the museum’s new home in the South of the Netherlands. Ted is acting as guest curator for the exhibition. The exhibition explores his inspirations in conjunction with his own work.
The focus in the exhibition is on themes that are of great inspiration to Ted in his own work, such as greed, sulek-burcu-emptiness-2015, beauty, mortality and intimacy.
Ted Noten strings together a necklace of works by high-profile artists such as Damien Hirst, Wim Delvoye, Marina Abramovic, Marcel Duchamp, Charles Bukowski, Elsa Schiaparelli, Bernhard Schobinger and Wim Wenders. Francis Bacon’s painting Fragment of a Crucifixion will be one of the highlights. The works of these high-profile artists are combined with ethnographic objects like a decorated skull from Papua New Guinea, a string of pearls design and Folk art.
