Women as symbols present multiple challenges to this group that has been working on themes related to their own wishes and convictions for some years.
This time, the main theme is women that have left a mark in these artists’ lives, focusing on personal interpretations, concepts, lifestyles.
Different ways of thinking about jewelry are to be found. Contemporary jewelry includes the traditional idea of symbolic ornament, as it states a fact about the wearer. This fact includes the choice of material -whichever this is- and the making process, as bearer of meaning. The piece of jewelry becomes one as result of the thoughts or memories that arouses in the wearer and also in the relation established with the observer. Its value does not lie in the use of precious metals but the impact it has as a whole.
A group of artists question themselves, inquire and suggest ideas. The contemporary piece of jewelry is embraced when there is a coincidence between what it communicates and our own experience; also in the desire to wear it and convey the idea of the effect which in this case, some symbolic women have triggered. / Fabiana Gadano
