Planet pendants:This is a collection of four pendants developed during Covid 2020 lockdown. It is an exploration of feelings, concepts and transformation of recycled PET plastic bottles.
Planet Earth, 2020. I think about the new conditions of life. I think about the new reality that surrounds us. I think of my plans and desires tending to fall apart and desperately try to embrace them and keep them on the move.
I think of a planet in an emergency. I think of oceans with islands of plastic. I think of endangered sea that embraces what it receives.
I think of other vulnerable beings. Endless lines of migrants. Storms, eddies. Darkness. I think of solidarity.
I think of the captain's spyglass scanning the horizon. I think of landless human beings trapped in the violent mess of immigration policies.
And I also think of the porthole of a ship from where I would like to see another sea, the sea of a new planet: wiser, juster.
Wounded collection
Having done three other collections out of PET plastic bottles, Fabiana Gadano presents her latest exploration. Wounded Collection pictures battered Nature. Frayed plastic fragments enhance a paradox: a synthetic material becomes the protagonist of a universe that mirrors life. It presents a chameleonic capacity to adopt the mask of Nature. Wounded collection is a new research on the possibilities of transforming discarded PET plastic. The process is permeated with concerns about the great amount of plastic that is being dumped daily.
Cities collection
There are some places where beauty seems to be elusive. In some cities a second look may be required to cast the spell that may haunt us forever. It might be because they reinvent and recycle themselves over and over again.
Cities collection addresses the concept of layers, which refers to rebuilding and assembling. The project of reusing PET (polyethylene terephthalate) disposable plastic bottles is aligned with the idea of enabling new opportunities in material that was created to be waste but whose destiny is forced to change when applied to jewelry, giving it new significance and permanence. This line of work searches for an aesthetic experience in a material that seems to be deprived of these qualities. However, its potential can be unfolded while working devotedly with it and granting it a second chance to exist.
The collection depicts urban landscapes through one of the types of plastic waste widely generated in big cities: disposable bottles. In that spirit, urban scenes are created out of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) from recycled plastic bottles.
Fiesta / Party Statement
fiesta.(from Latin festa, pl. festum) celebration n. Joy, fun, festival. |2. An occasion when there are many enjoyable things to see or do. |3. A meal where a large number of people celebrate a special occasion.
mesa. (from Latin mensa, pl. mensae) table n. Refectory, table, food. |2. Group of people sitting around a table. |3. Meeting time and participation. |4. Long evenings to share a treat.
H20 Collection
The project aims at revaluing waste plastic by reassigning it as protagonist material in contemporary jewelry.
The jewels are made of recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) mineral water bottles cut into flakes, squares or strips. A verylow temperature treatment turns these flat foil-like elements into volumetric sculptural shapes that are visually light due to their translucency. The structure of the pieces is done in silver. As PET is a material that cannot withstand high-temperature processes, the assembly and articulation of the component partsis achieved with cold-type unions, such as rivets and shims.
The concern about environmental protection and a careful use of natural resource, water, is present in this project.
The morphological treatment given to the jewels through the evocation of water bodies reinforces this intention.
H20 Collection (second part)
…Like a talisman, which focuses its power on everyone who sees or wears it…
These pieces evoke a precious treasure, our Nature.
Endangered environment due todisposal of plastics and the need to care for our natural resources, guide these ideas. My project aims to revalue waste plastic by reassigning it a leading role. The jewels are made of recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) from discarded water bottles. The morphological language that this media allows turns it into a suitable and coherent material to evoke the idea of Nature, to commemorate its magnificence and to alerton its destruction.
Farewell
When my father passed away, I couldn´t farewell him properly. This is an attempt to say him goodbye, recalling him in his world.
Shelters
My work talks about shelters. It represents places where to find harmony, peace and well being. Those spots where it is possible to feel protected, to meditate and rest.
Shelters for the soul.
The body of work includes the representation of physical and concrete refuges like the precarious constructions built somewhere and aims also toevoque immaterial, spiritual refuges where to find states of harmony and meditation.
Outer shelters and inner shelters.
I represent refuges like fragile, precarious, fleeting constructions. Despite invaded privacy, a physical protection is suggested and necessary to feel at home.Reunion, spaces, readings, thoughts, expectations, hopes, the prospect of finding and thetruly found out.
My Land
These pieces were inspired in the idea of the place where I belong. The idea was developed considering birth land and blood family as special values to rely on. I worked in the hope that there will always be strong and permanent underlying bows waiting to arise and become unequivocal.
The bonds that attach land, bloodand feelings.
Each piece relates to a personal pray, a sort of customized religion basedin belief, hope and finally facts. The pieces were built using materials I collected in particular situations, such as beach pebbles or oxidized roof tins, intending, with the inclusion of these elements, to communicate the sense of land as the place where I belong. Other components materialized in silver and nickel silver, allowed me to evoke my memories of that special, relaxing oasis, called bonding feelings.
