Intro
For years, artists have been shifting the boundaries of conventional textiles by experimenting with new techniques and materials while honoring the heritage of handcrafted textiles. Contemporary textiles link the past and the present through the reinterpretations of these traditions, engaging both collectors and makers in a meaningful way. Collectors have been taking note.

Mobilia Gallery has been committed to exhibiting contemporary textiles since the early 1980’s, in step with the many museums that have long recognized the importance of contemporary textiles. It has been Mobilia’s privilege to work closely with many collectors, including the late Daphne Farago, to place contemporary textiles in important museum collections.

Farago gifted over 900 pieces of contemporary art (including jewelry, glass and ceramics) to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, which encompasses fiber art and textiles by the late Katherine Westphal, the late Arline Fisch, Lia Cook, the late John McQueen, Norma Minkowitz, Joyce J. Scott, and numerous others contributing to the MFA Boston's treasure trove of contemporary textiles.

Mobilia Gallery invited artist to participate in this exhibition with textiles using their innovative techniques and unique materials, highlighting the best of what contemporary textile artists have to offer—continually exploring the various perceptions and possibilities of what a textile can be.
