Metalsmith Magazine: Seeking Submissions for a Special Issue

What’s so special about it? It is an issue composed entirely of your submissions to one of four call categories. So what? Isn’t Metalsmith always just a compilation of the best submissions you receive? Well, no. Each issue is built out of conversations, invitations, inquiries, and developed over long periods of time with articles grouped together intentionally. What is different about this call? Instead of inviting proposals for writing centered around a single question, concept, or format—or simply inviting images of artworks that fit certain themes—we are offering four separate pathways for being published in Metalsmith.

Call Opens: August 19, 2026.
Call Closes: January 19, 2027, Midnight (12:00 a.m.) Pacific Time.
Selection Notification: Notification will be sent via email in two batches depending on submission date.
