Intro
Since 2021, the DIVA museum has annually invited makers, artists and designers to create new work as part of its artist-in-residence programme. For 2026, DIVA offers three residents the opportunity to work for three months in a well-equipped studio, draw inspiration from the museum collection, and present their research in an exhibition.

Artist in Residence at DIVA
As an artist in residence at DIVA, you are given time and space to conduct independent research and to experiment within your own practice. You work autonomously and define the focus and direction of your research yourself.

You will have access to a fully equipped studio and can draw inspiration from DIVA’s accessible museum collection and its specialised library. The residency offers you the opportunity to grow as a maker, reflect on your work, and explore new ideas.

In addition, you will engage in dialogue with the public through an artist talk and a group exhibition.

What does DIVA offer?
  • Access to the museum’s expertise, collection and studio infrastructure
  • A residency period from 1 September to 30 November 2026
  • A group exhibition at the museum presenting the residents’ research and work
    • Exhibition period: 25 February to 11 April 2027 (dates subject to change)
  • Participation in at least one artist talk in which you present your work and research to a broad audience

What does DIVA expect from you?
  • You are present in the DIVA studio for at least 70% of the residency period
  • You collaborate with the other residents on the exhibition
  • You actively participate in at least one artist talk, during or after the residency, at a time agreed in consultation

Number of residencies
DIVA will select three residents.

Selection criteria
You have successfully completed a relevant education in jewellery design and/or silversmithing, or you can demonstrate equivalent relevant professional experience.

The selection is made by a jury consisting of two DIVA staff members and two external experts.

Your application must include:
  • a portfolio presenting your work and practice (maximum 5 pages, PDF);
  • a motivation letter explaining how a residency at DIVA would contribute to your development;
  • a project proposal describing what you wish to research and what you aim to achieve during the residency.
Applications are assessed based on:
  • the feasibility of the project proposal;
  • the extent to which the residency contributes to your artistic and professional development;
  • a conceptual connection with the museum collection is considered an asset.

DIVA offers you
  • reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs up to €3,000;
  • a work and production budget of up to €1,750;
  • full access to the studio facilities;
  • technical assistance 2 half days a week.
