After a scholarship has been granted a further application is not permitted. There are no registration fees.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, November 15, 2018.
Confirmation of a scholarship will be made mid-December 2018.

Intro
Three months to develop a project without financial or professional pressure – this is a chance that is only given to few designers. The international scholarship program “Designers in Residence” in Pforzheim in South Germany aims to create a space for young designers where they can develop and work on their own ideas. Together with the Design Center Baden-Württemberg and Pforheims Faculty of Design the city of Pforzheim invites three young designers from all over the world to work from April to June at the EMMA Creative Center.

The scholarship takes place from April 1 to June 30, 2019 in Pforzheim, Germany.
Designers in Residence is directed towards young designers in the areas of jewellery, fashion, accessory and indust­rial design. In total there will be three scholarships for a three-month working phase at the EMMA Creative Center in Pforzheim. Of all applications, the three best will be considered. The scholarship holders will have access to fully equip­ped workshop workplaces as well as coworking desks in the EMMA Creative Center. The EMMA Creative Center is the central platform for creative people in Pforzheim. The creative center is housed on the premises of a former swimming pool designed in the art nouveau style next to the river Enz in Pforzheim. The creative center has an area of 3,000 m2 and offers workshops and coworking workplaces, ateliers, offices and exhibition spaces. The town of Pforzheim is also characterized by an active creative scene which is focussed on the area of design. The faculty of design at the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences has established Pforzheim as a university town with an international reputation.

Scholarship benefits
The scholarship includes use of fully equipped workshop workplaces in the EMMA Creative Center and free accommodation for the period from April 1 to June 30, 2019. In addition, each scholarship holder will receive a monthly support of 1,000 euros together with travel and material costs. The results of the scholarship will be presented in an exhibition at the EMMA Creative Center and in cooperation with the Design Center Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart.
The scholarship program is directed towards young international designers in the areas of jewellery, fashion, accessory and industrial design. Applicants must have completed studies at an university of applied sciences or university, must not be older than 35 years and / or must have completed their studies not longer than two years ago. Language skills in German or English are required.

Jury
Mirjam Hiller did an apprenticeship at the Goldschmiedeschule Pforzheim and then studied at Pforzheim University´s Faculty of Design and at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Canada. Since 2008, she runs her own studio. Her work is presented in renowned galleries worldwide and is part of private and museum collections, for example in the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim, the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn or the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Furthermore, she received several awards, such as the inhorgenta europe innovation award or the grassi award of the galerie Slavik.

Tim Storti, Diplom Designer and founder of the PEARL CREATIVE design agency, studied industrial design at Pforzheim University´s Faculty of Design. After graduating, he spent several years working for renowned studio Phoenix Design in Stuttgart. In the year 2000, he together with Christian Rummel founded PEARL CREATIVE, a design agency for strategy, innovation and brand design, of which he is managing partner and creative director. The 12 team members of PEARL CREATIVE develop concepts and products for well-known brands as ALFI, BLANCO, BRITA, BOSCH, KÄRCHER, SIEMENS and WMF. The studio won more than 70 international design awards.
 
Bettina Weiss studied fashion design at Pforzheim University after her tailor graduation and an employment at the theatre. During her studies, she worked as a Technical & Color Designer for Adidas Stella Mc Cartney and afterwards for Adidas Sport Performance Design. Currently, Bettina Weiss is Senior Designer at Adidas Heartbeat Sports/Specialist Sports. Since 2016, she is also lecturing in Sportswear and Leisure Wear at Pforzheim University´s Faculty of Design.
