The non-profit association Plattform Schmuckkunst was founded in 2019 and is based in the centre of Graz, Austria. Integrated into the premises of the Atelier Schmuckes, it offers the possibility of a contact point or a constant exchange with the local jewellery artists and those interested in jewellery. There is a wide range of workshops, regular exhibitions and literature on contemporary jewellery art. Above all, the concerns of the association focus on the increased establishment of contemporary jewellery art in Graz and Styria, respectively, as well as connecting national and international jewellery artists.

A Jewellery Artist in Residence program will take place for the third time in July 2023. A selected jewellery artist will be able to use the community workshop for the entire month and show their outcome during the last week of their stay in the form of a solo exhibition – on-site and online. In addition, the artist is scheduled to hold a workshop.

The association provides a fully equipped workspace with its workbench and various tools and equipment (casting, welding etc.). The association will cover incurring costs for the organisation and promotion of the events (photographic documentation, printing costs for advertising material). Existing funds will be available for the exhibition design. In addition, the artist will receive an amount of 500€ for holding the workshop and covering the corresponding material costs. The association will also cover the costs of the organised accommodation. Contact persons will be on-site for questions and support of any kind.

The artist commits to working on jewellery objects, on a topic of their choice, during the stay and agrees to exhibit the results at the end. Video and photo material will be published online on the associations’ platforms and printed in the annual catalogue. Furthermore, the artist agrees to hold one or more workshops during the exhibition period, which convey the working theme and/or special working techniques. Material costs, travelling expenses and insurance must be covered by themself.

Interested jewellery artists, national as well as international, are invited to submit their application by June 7th (12 pm) to mail@plattform-schmuckkunst.at. Submissions include a CV, a proposal and a workshop proposal in English (as a pdf file) and additionally a work photo in print quality (portrait format, at least 300 dpi).
