DEADLINE: 15/10/2019

MetalAid is inviting all Canadian jewellery artists to submit works for its juried digital exhibition New Vernacular – A Canadian Jewellery Conversation. This exhibition will be presented at NYC Jewelry Week in November 2019, at the Consulate General of Canada in New York City, during an event organized by MetalAid.
The event will include a panel discussion on post-educational support for jewellery artists in Canada and community initiatives in the Canadian contemporary jewellery field. The exhibition is a survey showcasing what is currently happening in Canada’s contemporary jewellery scene. We see this as an opportunity to present the broadest range of works being made across the country to an international audience.
The MetalAid team members Marie-Eve G. Castonguay, Alex Kinsley Vey, Pasha Moezzi, Emma Piirtoniemi, and Patrycja Zwierzynska will be jurying this exhibition based on the quality of images received and the originality of the work.
An exhibition in print will be produced in the coming year.
Key dates:
15.10.2019 The last day to apply.
18.11.2019 - 24.11.2019 New York Jewelry Week 2019.

About MetalAid
MetalAid's main mission is to stimulate the contemporary jewellery scene in Canada, as well as promote contemporary Canadian jewellery abroad.
Our web platform serves to converge information on events and opportunities related to contemporary jewelry, as well as providing editorial content and a variety of articles on contemporary jewellery. The content provided by MetalAid can not only be viewed and shared, but we also invite the community to contribute. All content will however be reviewed by the MetalAid team.
We understand, support and wish to promote the idea that contemporary jewellery is an artistic discipline worthy of the name. We believe that the value of materials is secondary, and that despite the fact that portability and functionality are important criteria, contemporary jewelry transcends the boundaries of mere ornamentation. Regardless of existing categories, such as crafts, design and fashion,
contemporary jewellery is an artistic discipline in itself.
