DEADLINE: 26/06/2022

We are seeking an outstanding practitioner and researcher in Applied Arts, Jewellery & Metal. The purpose of this Senior Tutor role will be to work closely with, and support, the Head of Programme, taking a leading role where necessary, in the management, development, delivery, recruitment, and curriculum design of the MA Jewellery and Metal, whilst also contributing to the School research community, appropriate SoAH research cluster and PGR community alongside developing their own research profile.
Jewellery and Metal is situated within Applied Arts in the School of Arts and Humanities. Applied Arts disciplines are always at the convergence of things. Whether that’s the cusp of art/design, material/immaterial, digital/analogue, Applied Arts require multidirectional attention and thoughtful and considered interactions with materials and materiality.
Within the Applied Art remit, the post holder should have a clearly defined understanding of the roles jewellery and metal play within the arts and design and should be able to evidence acknowledged international standing within these disciplines, developed networks within the field, and relevant teaching experience at postgraduate level. The postholder will maintain an international research profile, initiate, plan, lead and deliver externally funded research and knowledge exchange initiatives.
Within future and current pedagogical developments, the role will directly contribute, and where necessary lead, to the development of the new curricula, including planning and aiding in devising new methods of delivery at pre-sessional (pre-MA), MA, MFA, PGR, Exec Ed and micro credit, as well contribute to the development of and exploration of hybrid and blended modes of teaching.
Required hours: Full Time.
Site: Battersea & White City.
Salary: £55,932 - £62,606 per annum pro rata.
For more information on the role please see the Info Pack.
The Royal College of Art is the UK’s only entirely postgraduate institution of art and design, dedicated to teaching, research and knowledge exchange with industry. The RCA has been ranked the number one university-level institution for art & design, internationally, for the eighth consecutive year according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject, 2021.
The Royal College of Art is an equal opportunities employer. The College particularly welcomes applications from all sections of the community and would particularly encourage members of minority groups to apply.
