The position is for a Guest Professor of Jewellery History.

As a member of the teaching staff

You can be called in to provide and support education, conduct research, develop activities in the context of social services and perform administrative, organizing, and coordinating tasks. The educational activities can take place on campus as well as in distance learning.

As a Guest Professor of Jewellery History, you are mainly responsible for:
  • The preparation and supervision of the lectures;
  • Carrying out educational activities;
  • The systematic updating of study material;
  • Subject-oriented study and career guidance;
  • Evaluating students (supervision of exams and feedback);
  • Participation in examination committees;
  • Developing new study material (developing the digital learning platform and participating in internal and external working groups);
  • All teaching hours are grouped in semester 2, which means 6 teaching hours per week;
  • You follow up on a home assignment for the students throughout the year and set aside a few contact moments for this.

  • You can design quality education by efficiently shaping the learning objectives, the teaching-learning process, and testing.
  • You know how to stimulate and motivate a diverse student population.
  • You have a great knowledge of the contemporary field of 'Contemporary Jewellery' and its history.
  • You know how to inform and inspire the student in terms of exhibitions and other contemporary initiatives.
  • You can work in Office 365, with online communication tools, and in a digital learning platform. And you are willing to train in this when necessary.
  • You have strong communication skills, in both Dutch and English.
  • You work smoothly with colleagues and external partners, but you can also work independently.
Admission requirements
  • You are in possession of a Master's degree or equivalent through experience, preferably in Visual Arts, towards Jewellery Design.
  • You are preferably in possession of a certificate of pedagogical competence.
  • You have (preferably) at least 5 years of experience in (higher) education and/or in the professional field.
  • You will be employed as a contractual guest professor for 7.6 hrs/w including or following up to and including 17-09-2023.
  • Renewal of employment is possible within the financial and organizational boundaries.

    Place of employment: Mutsaard campus - Mutsaardstraat 31, 2000 Antwerp.

Selection procedure
The selection is made by a selection committee specifically composed for this vacancy.
Based on the submitted applications, this committee decides which candidates will be invited for an (online) selection interview.
An additional selection round can be organized.
The committee then makes a decision.
